Brecon Beacons

We awoke relaxed and Geoff was feeling a bit less 'coldy'. Said goodbye to our new farm 'friends'.

Such a beautiful place to stay.

Next if was off to the Brecons National Park. This is a mountain range which includes the highest peak in South Wales. The Brecon Beacons are said to be named after the ancient practice of lighting signal fires on mountains to warn of attacks by invaders. We climbed he second highest peak Corn Du which is 873 metres. The highest peak is Pen Y Fan at 886 metres.

The climb was unrelenting and it was bitterly cold with the wind blowing a gale. It was hard but wow the view from the top was beyond words.

Geoff on top of the world.

Patches of snow
We spent the night at Pontypool. Had dinner at MacDonalds!
